Local dignitaries including Nevada County Supervisor Ted Owens, Truckee Mayor Barbara Green, Truckee Airport&rsquo;s Mary Hetherington and Truckee Trails Foundation Director John Svahn spoke at the event, praising all who played a role in purchasing the financially struggling, nine-hole course. The re-opened course provides residents with welcome open space, as well as providing the airport with a buffer to minimize complaints over noisy operations. The first half of the year is over and the real estate market along with the financial market have been in a period of adjustment. We get questions everyday by people we see around town, how is the market? The expectation is that no property is selling. Property is always selling and the market activity is about the same as last year. Markets can get ahead of themselves and the independent nature of markets tends to have them revert to the mean. As we have discussed in previous issues it is only an incremental increase or decrease in sales that causes big changes in markets. Sales volumes nationwide are off about 30%. Realize that this is from the peak which was 20% above normal. We now are seeing volume below the normal range which is typical to balance out the excesses of the past.
